You have to visit Google’s structured data markup helper. You can find it easily on Google. Now you can see a window as given below in the screenshot.
Choose the Type of Data you Want

You can see many types of data options on the screen. However, the list is big enough to select the type per your website’s requirements easily.
Here, I will choose the ‘Article’ type as it suits my website content. Also, this type is the most famous category of content that needs to be ranked higher as per the competition.
Paste the URL
In this step, you have pasted the website URL you need to markup. Instead of pasting the URL, if you have HTML code, you can also paste it. Then, click on the ‘start tagging’ option on the right-hand side, as shown in the image below.
You can now see your loaded page on the Markup editor. Here you can see the workspace for the next step of the markup process. Now, you have to tag items as per your requirements. Again, you can see your website page on the left-hand side and items on the right side.
Choose the Elements That you Want to Markup.
As you know, we are working on an article type of data. So, I will add a ‘Name’ markup to highlight the content title’s name.
As you can see in the highlighted article type, you can now choose ‘name’ from the tooltip. And when you select ‘name,’ the tool adds ‘data items’ on the right side.
From the list of data items, you can highlight and add them to your markup list. You may be unable to add every data item from the list, but add whatever you can.
Create the HTML
After you have finished, you can click ‘Create HTML.’
When you click on ‘Create HTML,’ you can see the HTML section of your page with the required microdata in the places you choose.
You can also convert it into JSON-LD format when you click on the ‘microdata’ tab, as shown in the image.
Add Schema Markup to Your Website
You can go to your WordPress website and place the highlighted snippets or fragments in the proper spots. For example, see the yellow bars on the right pane to identify the schema markup codes.
Or you can get the automatically-generated HTML file from the ‘Download’ button. Finally, you can copy and paste this on your website source code.
Now, you can click on finish. And you can see a series of ‘Next Steps.’
Test the Schema
You can use the Structured Data Testing tool to see the results and test them. It will give you a look at ‘how your webpage will look with markup.’
You have to enter the URL of your page. Also, you can enter the source code if you are not using any CMS.
You can finally click on the ‘Test URL’ you pasted. It will give you a rich snippet report in seconds.
