Now let’s get back to the process.
10 Steps to Make Your Website
Step 1 – Pick a Niche for Your Website
A niche is a smaller part of a larger market. Therefore, the most important things to consider are your passion and knowledge about the subject and the scope of the niche. This way, you can cover the topic much easier, which is crucial, as you will see in the next steps.
For instance, if we take shoes, it would be impossible to cover everything about different kinds and brands of shoes. It’s too large. However, you can build a website about certain kinds of shoes, say soccer boots. Or Astro shoes? As you can see, both these themes are related to shoes, but they are much smaller.
Although it may take you a long time to develop the perfect niche, don’t give up.
Step 2 – Determine Your Niche’s Profitability
Having chosen your niche, it’s time to determine whether it’s profitable or not. Unless you want to build a hobby site, you must ensure your niche has enough profit potential.
I would recommend two ways to carry out your niche’s profitability:
- Google AdWords CPC (Cost per Click)
The easiest and cheapest way to find profitable niche markets is to check out your niche’s CPC value for free.
All you have to do is sign up to https://adwords.google.com/KeywordPlanner and use either the public or the private version. Both are free and don’t cost anything.
Once you’re ready, type your niche’s main keywords into the „word or phrase” area and click Search. Afterward, click the “keyword ideas” tab. There will be a bunch of different keywords.
The “Approximate CPC” column is the most important for us. It shows how much an advertiser pays every time someone clicks on their ad related to a given keyword. To consider your niche profitable, you should have at least 50 keywords with a CPC value greater than $ 1.
- Affiliate Programs
The second best way to find profitable niche markets is browsing for related affiliate programs. Every profitable niche has a lot of affiliate programs you can promote and make money with. The best places to look for affiliate products and programs are:
- Associate Programs
- Commission Junction
Step 3 – Research Your Niche’s Keywords
Keywords and phrases are what people use in search engines to find information. If you don’t have enough visitors or traffic, you can’t have a sustainable and profitable website or business. To achieve that, you must discover what people type into search engines to research your niche.
There are two options to do it:
- Use Google’s free keyword research tool and get a ballpark figure (not recommended)
- Use Jaaxy to check out all your keywords and get extremely accurate and credible data to build a solid base (highly recommended)
Step 4 – Create a Content Roadmap for Your Website
Once you have researched enough keywords, you should organize them logically and create a structure. For example, a site road map is similar to a book’s table of contents. A good structure makes it easy for your readers to navigate your website.
Step 5 – Come Up With Your Unique Selling Proposition
A unique selling proposition makes you stand out from the crowd. It makes people want to do business with you instead of your competitors. To become successful online, you must come up with your USP. You must provide something original and unique. The better your unique selling proposition is, the more customers you will have and the more money you will make.
Step 6 – Find a Good Domain Name
Now it’s time to register your domain name. Here are several tips for choosing a good domain name:
- Make it memorable and easy to input; it’s your brand
- Avoid using numbers and hyphens; keep it short
- Make it a specific keyword-rich domain name
- Use .com domain name – most people default search .com’s. If not available, my second choice would be .net
- I would also keep away from .info or .biz – these have been overused by spammers over the years, giving them a bad first impression before visitors even click on your site.
There are a great variety of domain and web hosting companies out there. In my experience, Siterubix and Namecheap are the best options. They have excellent features and even better customer support. Also, they both offer you the quickest and easiest state-of-the-art website builders.
Step 7 – Choose a Site Builder Platform
Once you have registered your domain name, you can build your website. You can either learn HTML and other programming languages or use a site-building platform. One of the most popular website-building platforms is WordPress.
It is the most widely used website platform globally, and anyone can build a website these days and succeed online. There is no need for special education or programming skills – HTML or CSS coding is required. WordPress is very easy to install and set up, no need for some advanced knowledge and skills, contains over 1,400 website templates, lots of support and help is provided.
Now I want to show YOU how you can get your WordPress website and build a website in the next few minutes.
Step 8 – Create Great Content
This is the step where most people tend to fail. Most of them think they can’t write or the content they produce is too boring and meaningless. However, you don’t have to be an excellent writer to create great articles or posts. You only need to provide valuable information to your readers in plain words.
Step 9 – Publish Your Newsletter
Publishing a newsletter for your visitors is crucial. Almost all internet marketers offer one to their visitors. It’s an effective way to stay in touch and build relationships with your audience.
To publish a newsletter, you have to subscribe to a newsletter service provider such as AWeber and GetResponse. They will deal with the technicalities, let you place subscriptions boxes on your site, and send out your emails quickly and easily. Unfortunately, all of them cost some money but at a very low and reasonable price.
Step 10 – Monetize Your Website
The last step to creating your website is the best and most rewarding for most people. Once you have attracted and retained many satisfied visitors, all you have to do is put up some monetization models on your site and watch the money comes in. The most widespread monetization models are:
- Affiliate Programs
They can be found in any niche you can think of. You can start by searching your niche or keywords combined with the word “affiliate.” It’s best to find at least three different affiliate programs to offer through your site. Of course, you can always start with one and add another to it later as your site expands.
If you’re having trouble finding an affiliate program, some great places to look are Amazon, Associate Programs, ClickBank, Commission Junction.
AdWords is Google’s Pay Per Click advertising. As a publisher, you can put other people or company’s ads on your site and get paid each time someone clicks on them. The amount you get paid varies widely, and you can find it out when you sign up for an AdWords Account.
That’s it! Those are the main cornerstones on the road to building your own website. The process might seem a bit complicated at first sight, but actually, it’s very easy and simple.
