Internet marketing is a booming business. It is becoming more and more popular, from the corporate business man to the student who wants to make an extra buck online, and everything in between. The reason being that it is a relatively cheap form of marketing. There are no printing costs and postage involved, hardly any costs to create impressions – like with advertisement in print media or on television. The main investment needed is time, in other words, getting the know-how to do a proper job.

The good thing about Internet Marketing is that in most cases it is not what is called “shotgun marketing”. In Internet Marketing we talk about the “pull principle”. This means that the people who are attracted by your marketing message are the ones that are looking for the specific thing you are offering. This results in a relatively high conversion into sales.

When marketing it is very important to know your results. The nice thing with Internet Marketing is that there are very good tools to measure and test all your work as a marketer. Not only Google offers very useful tools, but there is a lot of very useful stuff on the market to help you see what offers or marketing messages are most appealing to your (buying) public.

With the economic crisis, and due to the measurability and growing influence of Internet Marketing, there is an increasing pressure on marketers by their clients to know what the exact results of the marketing efforts are. But also for the man in the street who uses Internet Marketing as an extra source of income, so the ability to know exactly what’s happening and what to do, is more than welcome.

A big advantage for the offline sales process is that the vendor can give his prospective buyer the real product in his hands (which is a “must” in offline marketing). The solution for the problem that you can’t do so online, is to promise an easy refund to someone who buys online, in case he is not happy with the commodity he buys.

Internet shopping becomes more and more popular and starts to become a common way for people to buy what they want. Also, while in the past the internet was an outright jungle, and while it has been easy in the past to mislead potential clients or misuse their information, nowadays there is more control and legislation to regulate this rather new way of marketing. And because buying online is becoming so popular and a part of daily life, people have become used to it and are more and more confident that they can find what they are looking for without being ripped-off.
